Pista PolideportivaThe sports facilities are all grouped within the same area commonly known as the “Municipal Sports Centre”, located between the Plaza del Calvario and the Nacimiento (source) of the Río Molinos.

Five-a-side Football, Basketball and Tennis competitions are all held in the Sports centre.  It has a capacity for 500 spectators.

The Municipal Sports Activity Programme developed by the Town Hall of Istán is the following:

  • Municipal Gymnasium: As a general rule users of this facility must be over the age of 16.  The gymnasium offers programmes for toning, losing weight, rehabilitation, gaining muscle volume, etc.
  • Indoor Pool: The water activities for babies, disable people, seniors, adults (aerobics, aquasalud and swimming free) and swimming school children.
  • Physical Activity for Seniors:  This activity is aimed at that section of the population over 60 years of age.  The classes are held two days a week.  In these classes physical capacity above all is worked upon together with social interaction for the elderly.  Therefore, the activities imparted are:  Basic (gymnastic movements, games, body expression, relaxation, massages, physical conditioning exercises, taichi...).  Complementary activities (open air rhythmic and dance activities, aquatic and manual activities), etc.
  • Physical Conditioning for Adults:  Classes for anyone from the age of 18 to 60.  The classes are held twice weekly.  The activities are the same as for the seniors but adapted to the adults group with regard to intensity, duration, etc.
  • Football-7 School:  Made up of children from the ages of 4 to 14.  At our football school we currently have a Benjamín team (8 -10 years of age) and a Children’s team (10 – 14 years of age). 
    The Benjamín team participates in the Provincial Educational League competition carried out by the Málaga County Council.  And the Children’s team participates in the Provincial Training League also of the Málaga Council. Within the football school we have included a new group of boys and girls between 4 and 6 years of age to start teaching them at an early age, as we have seen great interest on the part of children and parents in the formation of this group.  The classes are held twice weekly.For the smallest children there are psychometric activities and specially adapted pre-sports games.  Technical, tactical and physical activities are introduced progressively with a step by step programme depending on age and motor skills development.
  • Karate SchoolConsists of boys and girls between the ages of 5 to 14.  These classes are held twice weekly. The class contents are as follows:
  • Paddle SchoolMade up of girls and boys from the age of 6 and above.  The classes are held twice weekly. Classes are held for both children and adults, in order to encourage the practice of paddle as a sporting discipline.  Some of the content imparted is:  Learning the rules and basic shots in Paddle by means of various games and exercises.  Learning the basic techniques of Paddle, as well as the main tactical aspects of the game.
  • Multisports: Children between the ages of 6 and 11 are within the modules offered by the Málaga Council.  This activity is carried out twice a week and is directed towards those children who cannot form teams and who want to work on different types of sport.  Some of the contents of the classes are:  Football, Basketball, Handball, Athletics, Karate, Paddle.
  • Batuka:  For children from the ages of 6 and above.  It is a new activity which has had a great approval level.  It is held three times a week and consists of musical choreography, being not just dance but also a bit of fun, both rhythmic and healthy.
  • Swimming:  An occasional activity, it can only be carried out in the summer season, as we do not have a covered pool. For the ages of 5 years and above.  These classes are held five days a week, in groups of different ages and levels.  It should be noted that it is the most popular activity amongst our users.  These classes are based on initiation into swimming for different age groups, perfecting of the technique, water gymnastics, relaxation, group games, etc.
  • Physical-Sports Activity for People with Disabilities:  This is a new activity in which it is attempted to bring the practice of physical-sports activity ever closer to people with physical, psychic or sensorial disabilities.  Some of the objectives of this activity are:  improve quality of life, create a habit of physical activity and sport as a health tool, and facilitate the means for psycho-social integration and reinsertion into everyday life through sport. Sports part: general gymnastics with traditional exercises and basic Karate Do work, tending to physically prepare and strengthen the individual, at the same time as stimulating his/her senses and strengthening their powers of concentration.Katas:  “Shapes” or exercises which give the practitioner a preparation in memory and concentration of same, whilst also providing a kumite study plan.Kumite:  “Hand fighting” is a fighting technique against one or more practitioners and the preamble for all martial artists learning how to fight, if necessary in a real situation or in any possible scenario.
