Festivity of religious origin, in honour of San Miguel, patron saint of Istán, which is celebrated the Sunday prior to 29th of September (in 2008, Sunday 21st). Its duration tends to be from through to hours.
The “tomilleros”, so called in allusion to the thyme which covers the countryside, embark on a pilgrimage to the San Miguel Hermitage, attired in clothing typical of Istán.
In these beautiful surroundings especially prepared, with tables and rustic benches, a happy and entertaining day is spent in a family atmosphere, warmly welcoming all those who come from outside the town.
The musical Band accompanying the pilgrimage intones hymns amongst which of note is that of San Miguel. In the afternoon, San Miguel is carried in procession towards the town.
