We leave from the Plaza de Istán. We will walk up the “Calvario” hill, heading towards the sports centre which we will leave to our right. We carry on and we will see the Hotel Altos de Istán which we will leave to our right, a few metres further up there is a fenced water deposit (30S-0326229 / UTM-4049892), we take the right-hand track and some 1.200 metres further on there is a crossroads, we take the right track (30S-0325801 / UTM-4049360), the left one takes us to the Istán-Marbella road.
To the right and a few metres further on we will find ourselves within the recreational area which surrounds the Ermita de San Miguel, patron saint of Istán. If we follow this track until the end it will take us to an esplanade with a viewpoint to the left (30S-032616 / UTM-4049261) which we may use to admire one of the prettiest views of the Río Verde Reservoir.
We find the ERMITA half way down the recreational area at the end of an earth track. The return will be along the same path or by the road on the right taking all due precautions as it is a busy road.
